Key Takeaways:
- We often limit ourselves based on what we think is possible or rational, but this comes from past conditioning. As children we believe anything is possible.
- Embracing the mindset that anything and everything is possible for us is key to achieving quantum leaps in life. Ignore naysayers.
- Expanding what we think is possible and being willing to pursue dreams others call “crazy” is how innovators like the Wright Brothers achieved the “impossible.”
- Instead of saying something isn’t possible, ask “What if this was possible?” to open up new perspectives.
- There are always solutions if we open up to the possibility paradigm. Asking “What if?” allows the logical mind to relax and tap into creative problem-solving.
So this week I want to talk to you a little bit about the fact that we really need to have a little talk about you expanding what you think is actually possible for you and in your life.
You see, we tend to limit ourselves based upon what we think is possible in our lives, in our businesses, in our income. We tend to shrink ourselves based upon this. This is the possibilities.
This is what’s rational. The rational. This is what’s reasonable.
This is what I can expect. Now, so much of that comes from a lot of the stuff from our past, right? We learn a lot of this stuff. I mean, think about it.
Little kids don’t go out there going like, well, I can’t be Superman. That’s not possible. No, little kids go out there and they’re like, I’m Superman.
I’m the best thing since last bread. No, nobody says that anymore. That’s like saying from the thirties.
But little kids think that they are just absolutely infinite. They think the possibilities are infinite. They think they can be and do and have whatever they want in life.
They are absolutely untapped potential that can turn into anything. But we all think that that’s something that just exists for children. We all think that that’s something that just exists for, you know what I mean? When we’re naive and when we’re young.
But what if it’s that naiveness that youth, that children embody, obviously, because they’re children. That is the key to us achieving the quantum leaps that we really desire in our life and in our business and in everything that we want to create. What if it is actually embracing this sense that anything is possible? In fact, everything is possible for me, that I am absolutely unlimited in the possibilities that are available to me? That is the key to turning everything around.
You see, this whole rationality that weve learned this be practical. Have plan b set up. Make sure that you dont take too many risks.
Youve got to just really be grounded. Do I want you to be grounded and feel solid and feel safe in your body and in your wealth and in your business? Yes, absolutely. Absolutely.
But we confuse this feeling of safety and feeling of relaxation and feelings of feeling really good about where it is that we are, about what it is that we’re creating, with shrinking ourselves down to what we perceive as practical and possible. When it’s really only when we step in to this unlimited, absolutely infinite version of all possibilities around the table that we’re able to achieve that true next level that we’re able to actually welcome in that quantum leap. You see, everybody around you is probably going to look at your big, juicy dreams and say, well, that’s kind of crazy.
I’ve had people say to me before when I’ve told people about my own dreams, like, well, that just sounds manic. You know, like, that’s just, sorry, I have a lot of psychologist friends because I used to be a psychologist, but that sounds manic. That sounds like delusions of grandeur.
And it’s like, well, who are you to say that that’s a delusion of grandeur when that’s the dream I have in my heart, I can do anything that I set my mind to, you know, be a New York Times bestselling author, tour the world and speak on stages, have a private plane, do have an island in the middle of the Caribbean. Whatever the hell I want, I can have. Just like, whatever the hell you want, you can have.
But we end up getting surrounded by people who have their own limits, have their own limiting beliefs, have their own scarcity around money, around time, around possibilities. And what happens so often is we’re so indoctrinated with our belief that the people around us hold the truth, and we are so indoctrinated out of trusting ourselves and trusting our own inner alignment and our own truth that what we do is we hear these things over and over. And instead of being like, that’s nice.
Sorry you feel that way. I’m getting younger every day, you know, that’s another one. Don’t even get me started.
That’s another one. The conversation I’ve had with many of my friends before, they’re all like, I’m getting older. It’s inevitable.
My body’s breaking down, my knees are going, but, you know, now that I’m approaching 50, that’s to be expected. And I laugh and I go, nuh uh. I’m not playing that game.
That’s not my reality and that’s not what I’m calling in. If you’d like to do that, that’s fine, but I’m not playing. Nope, not playing that one home.
Like Carton, Cartman would say from south, just kidding. But the point I’m trying to make is that these people, we buy into their limitations, we buy into their perspective, we buy into their problem paradigm where they believe everything is a problem, everything is going to shrink, everything is going to reduce, they’re going to lose things. Constant scarcity, regardless of whether, whether it’s about relationships, health, wealth, business, time.
And we buy into it because we’re surrounded by it. And it makes sense that we buy into it, because on a psychological perspective, you know, as we’re growing up from those young, naive children who believe they can be Superman, we learn by looking at those around us. We learn from our parents.
We learn from our culture. We learn from advertisements, marketing, from all the things that we absorb really little sponges. But then, as adults, we don’t realize that we don’t have to be a sponge anymore and that we can choose and that we can shift our perspective and that we can look at things new ways which actually change our entire reality and change what it is that is possible for us.
And so this can be a radical point for us when we awaken to the fact that that’s all in our hands. It’s in our hands whether or not something is possible. It’s our perspective on whether or not something is possible that determines whether or not it’s possible.
One of my favorite stories in regard to this is the Wright brothers. You know, the dudes who invented flight. We all fly around the world because of these dudes.
Because these dudes expanded what we thought was possible. Because until they got that frickin plane up in the air at Kitty Hawk, flying was impossible. It was impossible.
It was impossible. It was not even conceivable. It was like, that doesn’t happen.
No, no, no, no. That’s crazy. In fact, the story goes, I don’t know if this is true or not, but the story goes, as their father was like, a preacher and was like, you boys are crazy.
That’s not possible. You gonna quit doing that flying crap? Like, that’s against God’s will. If he meant us to fly, he’d give us wings, kind of thing.
And they just ignored it. And they just went out there day after day, week after week, month after month, going, we’re gonna frickin fly. But that’s impossible.
People are saying all around them, and they go, we don’t care. We’re gonna fly. And guess what? We’re all flying today.
Because they were willing to risk going for the thing that seemed impossible. They were willing to risk being seen as crazy by other people, having their dreams and desires be marked off as, like, what do you think you’re doing? Why are you doing that? Being judged by other people, being condemned, maybe having haters, right? That’s like the 1910 version of a hater. You boys are going against God’s will.
That’s like the guys on, you know, on YouTube are saying, like, who do you think you are? Or whatever it is that we’re all afraid of. And so we hold back because we are afraid of these haters anyway. So they had haters in their own way, but they expanded past impossible and made the impossible possible.
And this is what we need to do. This is what we need to do in order to expand into our next level, in order to create that massive quantum leap that we want, in order to go big and to embrace this huge frickin destiny that we have inside of us, is we need to expand what we think is possible and stop settling for less than what we truly desire and stop settling for what it is that we think or we’re being told is practical or more reasonable, or get your head out of the clouds, or, you know, you really gotta have all those extra plans in case it doesn’t work out. You think the guy, the Wright brothers were like, well, plan B is if we don’t fly, we’re gonna put duck feet on a boat.
No, no. Like, they didn’t have. That’s a funny image.
They didn’t have a plan B. They just went for it. And I want you to go for it.
I want you to go for those big, juicy desires in your heart and achieve them and see them. But step one is you have to expand what you think is possible and be willing to be a little crazy in the pursuit of it, because impossible is just a barrier that hasn’t been broken yet. And it’s meant to be broken.
It’s meant to be broken. This is one of the reasons why, you know, when I work with my clients on their limiting beliefs around money and success, we call them limiting beliefs instead of blocks. The reason is, is it’s always possible to remove a limit.
But a block feels permanent. And as long as we think it’s possible to change it, our subconscious mind will get on board and support that? And so even words that we use around impossible possible, you know, I can, I can’t. Can be an incredible contributor to whether or not we’re able to expand what we think is possible.
So I want to give you an assignment today to take this to the next level. So what if instead of saying this isn’t possible, whether it’s your next income goal, whether it’s achieving something in two months that you had assigned a month, I mean, a whole year to get done, whether it is, I don’t know, getting TED talk or whether it’s being that best selling author, or whether it’s just having the man of your dreams show up, you know, in your life, pronto. What if instead of saying this isn’t possible, we instead asked, what if this was possible? What if this was possible? This allows us to connect with the deep intelligence within us and all around us.
It’s always available to us, a field of endless possibilities that unlimited us when we perceive it. But we can only perceive that possibility paradigm when we expand what we think is possible. We can only perceive that intelligence around us and within us when we unleash it and expand and open up to it.
As long as we’re in the closed tight, stressful, anxious, fearful place of this isn’t possible or this isn’t meant for me, we’re closed off to those things. So when we begin to live from this possibility paradigm, from this sense that everything’s possible, we begin to see the world with new eyes, we make new choices, we say new things, we do new things, we act in new ways, we show up with a whole new kind of energy. When we begin to ask what if? Instead of saying to ourselves, well, it’s unlikely because if something doesn’t seem possible from where you are right now, it’s all about your perspective, it’s just not possible from your current perspective.
So what do you need to do? You need to shift your perspective. So I want you to start with something in your life, in your finances, in your business, and think of something that seems impossible. Right? Air quotes impossible, because it’s not impossible.
But just start with something you believe might be impossible. Now I want you to let your mind play. Imagine you’re that child in the playground, in the sandbox and you begin to play with what if it might be possible? What if it might be possible? Just asking these questions, what if it might be possible? If this were possible, what would it look like if this were possible? How would I achieve it? This allows your brain to relax.
It allows your brain to shift from this old problem paradigm where everything is a problem and a hassle and can’t be solved to possibly possibility, where there’s always a solution, where there’s always a way through, where there’s always something to be discovered. You see, there are laws in the universe which basically say that if there is something that needs to be solved, if there is a quote unquote problem, I don’t like the word problem, let’s call it a puzzle then that means there’s always a solution. If there is something that needs to be solved, then that means there’s always a solution.
So you can solve anything, you can find a pathway to anything, but not if you think it’s impossible. So in essence, just asking the question as simple as what if this might be possible, allows your logical mind to quiet down. It allows you to stop censoring your experiences, the answers, the weird ideas that are popping in your head, and allows you to open up into endless possibility that’s actually always been available to you at any time.
But this allows you to begin to believe it. Now, I would love to hear from you and hear how this impacted you, to hear what little impossible belief that maybe or task or achievement that you played with, and what solutions, what pathways did you discover when you shifted the questions you were asking?
